Kenyan Patient Successfully Treated for Leukemia Treatment by Dr. Dharma Choudhary

Annis was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016 and she underwent a surgery to remove the cancerous tumor although the whole breast was not removed. She underwent chemotherapy but after some time, she developed a problem in here blood and the local doctor said that they could not do anything for her. Her husband John took her to see a hematologist and he said that she could be treated in India only. The patient could not be diagnosed properly because her body had stopped making red blood cells. The hematologist doctor suggested that the patient should be taken to India for treatment. So they made preparations to come to India and the government of Kenya also agreed for it.

They came to India and met Dr. Dharma Chourdhary and his team. From the airport itself the staff of the hospital showed great empathy with the patient and her husband. Dr. Dharma got some check ups done and diagnosed the condition of the patient as blood cancer or leukemia. He asked them when would they prefer to start the treatment and they said that they were ready for it immediately. So Dr. Dharma suggested that they should try chemo therapy for 6 days. The patient and her husband were surprised at that. They went through chemo therapy and then Dr. Dharma asked them to arrange for a stem cell and bone marrow donor.

The patient’s brother and sister were both pronounced as close match by the doctors in Kenya, so the brother decided to come down to India and donate bone marrow and stem cells. However, when he came to India and Dr. Dharma got a test done, it was proven that the brother of the patient was not a close match for the patient. This is the reason that they had to call their children. The patients’ son Martin decided to come to India to donate bone marrow and stem cells. The bone marrow and stem cells were harvested from the donor and transplanted on the patient. The doctor told them to be prepared for some side effects which would reduce eventually. Now Annis is much better than before and she could also walk. Both the patient and her husband are thankful to the team of Dr. dharma and the BLK hospital.
